Topkapi Palace is enormous and majestic. The guide did his best to provide historical context and explanations for each spot he showed us, but since there were so many of us in the group and so many people there, he just highlighted the most important points before moving on to the next one, so it felt a bit rushed. It’s definitely worth visiting the Palace!!!

Absolutely stunning place, the guide (his name was Suat I believe) was professional, knowledgeable and he was speaking in a very interesting manner. He took good care of the group on an extremely crowded day. Sometimes the signal of the receiver was not so great, but overall it was a great experience and it was worth to buy 'skip the line' option. Thank you!

I bought the online tickets 15 minutes before the experience starts, so we easily skipped the line and then the views and the whole trip was very pleasant.

This tour is a must for getting a better view of and understanding Istanbul. The boat is huge and comfortable, and offers a great view from every angle. The only downside was that they couldn't scan the QR code sent by the company. We had to call the local management, who kindly allowed us to board the boat after I provided all the payment details they requested.

The entry was quite simple. The cistern is spectacular. But we didn't use the audio guide! We didn't have the possibility to download it before enter and inside it was impossible to connect to wifi or mobile data.

I was able to enter right away; while others were waiting in a long line to buy tickets, I was already admiring the spectacular Cistern Basilica. Since I was on a guided tour, my visit time wasn’t set in stone, so this helped me save time and enjoy the place.

#I loved everything about this tour! The guide was very helpful and informative. We waited 20 minutes for Blue Mosque, 10 minutes for Hagia Sophia, and 5 minutes for the Basilica Cistern. I would happily do this tour again as I feel there is so much more to see than just the first pass through. 11/10

Highlights covered on Basilica Cistern tours

Medusa Heads

One of the most iconic highlights of the cistern is the Medusa Heads, one placed sideways and one situated upside down beneath a column. It is believed that they had been removed from an ancient Roman building.

Long Colonnades

As you enter the cistern, you will notice long marble columns supporting the roof. They cast long and winding reflections on the tranquil water surface, adding a layer of mystery and intrigue to the cistern.

Weeping Column

Around 7000 slaves had labored to build the Basilica Cistern. Several of them died during the 38-year construction period. The cistern has a column, engraved with branches and peacocks to honor their memory.
